Geek Chic Men's Fashion DOs and DON'Ts

fail at geek chic FAIL [clockwise] Mario Brothers knitted sleeveless sweater + bad hair (failage on making sweaters cool, my boy), the unfortunate, stereotypical geek uniform (lack of flattering grooming, white shirt, dated jeans, potbelly. Good lord.), LED belt that literally flashes GEEK (when people say someone's style is "flashy" that's not what they mean), blinking, obnoxious sound / WiFi-reactive t-shirts and bad hair (self-haircuts?) all around (seriously, are you trying to distract people by blinding them with moving EL lights on your chest?), "utilikilt," knee-high Converse and phallic compensation (???), going for the dated hipster 70s look + phallic compensation (Ugh...SERIOUSLY?). If you're interested in any of these looks, a quick Googling will do the trick. But I hope you don't mind being alone in front of a computer for the rest of your life. On the brightside, this eye-searing failage has the latent advantage of making sure all these men are kept out of the gene pool. Now, on to real geek chic fashion:

{VIEW LARGER IMAGE} WIN [clockwise] Three looks from G-Star. The first shows off an edgy-yet-sophisticated, futuristic jacket with interesting sewn detailing, the second shows a more modern take on a preppy sweater paired with clean, modern shoes, and the third from their new Correct line pairs a sharp, eye-catching suit with Converse-like shoes and rolled pant cuffs. However, although they all feature trendy bow-ties, be careful rocking these or you could easily become ironic--do not want. The Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who (David Tennant) Again pairing canvas sneakers with a suit, his look is casual with his intentionally-tousled hair and strategically unbuttoned vest. A look from J.Lindeberg with the casual suit plus nerd glasses. The Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who with his glasses on. Chuck Bartowski from Chuck (Zachary Levi) rocking a leather jacket, monochromatic all-over-print t-shirt, dark jeans with cuffs and bright blue Converse All-Stars for a spark of color.

Recommended  [1.] Ibiza Ride Watch. This has a more traditional steel band with an innovative way of telling the time with its multicolored LED display [2.] Cable Tie. Yep, instrument cables. A good alternative if you're not sure of the bow-tie yet. [3.] Rectangular Microcontroller Cufflinks. These subtle black-and-stainless-looking cufflinks are made from real integrated circuits, and are really subtle yet totally nerdy. [4.] Circuit Board Money Clip.If you don't mind a totally minimal alternative to a geek wallet, this money clip made from a circuit board is a great way to stash your cash in style. [5.] Floppy Disk Necklace. A floppy disk hub on a ball chain makes for a shiny yet subtle necklace. And did you know for a limited time you can get a free Floppy Disk Necklace when you buy our geek guy gear? Yep, is true. You're welcome.
